UC4: EDGE-CLOUD-BASED CLINICAL APPLICATIONS PLATFORM FOR IMAGE-GUIDED THERAPY AND DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING SYSTEMS

Philips develops image guide therapy systems using X-Ray for minimally invasive treatment of cardio/vascular, neurovascular and oncology diseases. In this use case Philips aims to transform the device-oriented architecture into a distributed edge-cloud-based architecture for the image guided therapy proposition. Distributed computing solutions for real-time imaging and processing, offline planning and intra-operative analysis tools will be executed outside the (healthcare) device. By running non-safety critical functionality outside the device in the edge-cloud platform solution is a key enabler for new business models as additional services (like AI-based solutions) or 3rd party tools integration are easily possible, and offer an easy way to introduce the latest versions of clinical applications in the installed base.
